.KEY MESSAGES...
1. Slightly below average temperatures today before a warming
trend begins Tuesday with triple digits returning on Wednesday.
2. There is a 15 to 20 percent chance of high temperatures of at
least 105 Wednesday and Thursday before reducing to a 15 percent
chance or less for the weekend.
3. Increased fire risk with widespread minimum relative
humidity between 15 and 25 percent for the non-desert areas. Min
RH expected less than 10 percent in the Mojave Desert with
gusty winds in the afternoon to evening.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
We have a small trough moving through Northern California which
has brought temperatures down to just below average for today.
However, a ridge over the Southwest will build over the next few
days bringing temperatures back up including triple digits to
the San Joaquin Valley for the rest of the week. There is a 25
to 50 percent chance of triple digits on Wednesday. Thursday
into the weekend will have a whopping 50 to 90 percent chance of
triple digits. Thursday expects to be the warmest day as there
also is a 15 to 20 percent chance of highs of at least 105
degrees. However, these probabilities have lowered over the past
few days ago due to ensembles picking up another trough that
will slide across the Pacific Northwest late in the week.
Fire weather will remain a concern as there is a minor risk due
to low humidities and strong wind gusts. The San Joaquin Valley
can see minimum humidity values of 15 to 25 percent along with
wind gusts peaking up to 15 mph with strongest gusts up to 25 to
30 mph closer to Pacheco Pass. In the Mojave Slopes and Desert,
the risk is higher but still minor with minimum humidities at
10 percent or less and a 60 to 100 percent chance of wind gusts
of at least 30 mph for the week with Mojave having a 60 to 95
percent chance of 40 mph gusts or higher expanding beyond this
week.
